Shopping online is a great way to expand your collection of toys – you can browse and compare from the privacy of your own home, at any time of the day, only for some exciting to come through your letter box a few days later.

But what if you’d like to see things in the flesh before you purchase? Maybe you want to try something on first before buying it,  or perhaps you have questions? Going in person to shop in the flesh can be a very exciting experience, for both you and your partner, and can even be a good way meet people, like at the London Alternative Market..

Here are a handful of the shops in London that we enjoy visiting to buy our kink in person… if you know of any more, let us know on Twitter by tweeting @theserpentrooms

The Liberation London, Covent Garden

http://libidex.com/hard-and-heavy-1-2/bondage-and-binders/octo-bodybag.htmlHoods, masks, aprons, dresses and more fetishwear for both men and women, plus a section for more intense sessions that include body bags, sleep sacks and slave catsuits. We also like their additional section on erotic bedding, made of latex, which is great for photo shoots or just to give playing at home an extra edge.

Regulation, Islington

If you want to buy a new piece of playroom furniture, or get some made-to-order clothing, then head to Regulation in Islington. They’ve got plenty of pieces of filth on offer, including a pretty hefty selection of electroplay items, anal play, medical tools and plenty of restraints.

Atsuko Kudo, Holloway

You can buy high end specialist latex wear at Atsuko Kudo on north London’s Holloway Road.  It’s mainly geared towards women, with cut away dresses, cat suits, studded berets, hold up suspenders and more lucious latex, that comes with lube supplied, but there are a few couture pieces for men. It’s pricey, but there’s no doubt it will look out of this world.. .

The London Alternative Market, Bank

We’re given LAM a shout out in the past but we couldn’t resist highlighting it again as one of the most diverse and fun places for you to go shopping. There’s kit and kink from all over the country, from erotic photography and wooden toys to party wear, masks, and more, plus an afterparty and great workshops.

Honour, Lambeth

Our final pick is south of the river in Honour, boasting an incredible range of high quality PVC, rubber, leather other fetish clothing for both sexes, including shoes. They also have a range of sex toys, bondage gear and uniforms.

Simply Pleasure, Soho

A great all-rounder, recommended to us on Twitter, this is the most centrally located shop on our list. But don’t be fooled by its exterior.  Despite having plenty to suit more vanilla play and lots of items for more general requirements like lube and vibrators, they also have quite a wide range of kink and fetish stock, including electro play, wartenburg wheels, chastity devices and more…
